(NEW YORK) – Bünyamin Sürmeli – In New York, environmental activists protested in front of the headquarters of BlackRock, one of the leading fossil fuel companies. Protesters gathered in front of the Hudson Yards building in Manhattan, carrying banners and chanting slogans against the use of fossil fuels. The protesters accused BlackRock, one of the world’s largest investment companies, of fueling the climate crisis through its investments in the fossil fuel industry.
The demonstrators held banners reading “Quit Fossil Fuels” and “Protect Our Planet”. The crowd called on governments and the private sector to take more decisive action on climate change. In particular, it was emphasized that large investment firms such as BlackRock should stop financing fossil fuel projects.
Speaking at the action, the protesters pointed to the rapid increase in global warming and environmental disasters, noting that the use of fossil fuels is one of the main causes of climate change. The protesters also called for a shift towards sustainable energy sources and demanded that BlackRock prioritize greener investments.
Protests have been a growing part of the global climate movement in recent years, emphasizing the need for increased pressure to end the use of fossil fuels. This action against BlackRock was just one of many protests around the world to draw attention to environmental issues.
