Iran attack on Israel: Nearly 200 missiles were fired

On Tuesday, 1 October, Iran struck Israel with dozens of ballistic missiles. While sirens sounded throughout Israel, explosions were heard in Jerusalem and the Jordan River valley. Israeli army radio reported that about 200 missiles were launched from Iran to Israel. Iranian Revolutionary Guards confirmed that dozens of missiles were sent to Israel. Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations shared a message on its social media account.
Iran’s ‘legal, reasonable and legitimate response to the Zionist regime’s terrorist activities’, it was stated that Israel targeted Iranian citizens and violated the sovereignty of the country.
It was stated that the attack was carried out in response to the Israeli attacks in which Hamas leader Ismail Haniye, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Iranian general Abbas Nilfurashan were killed.
Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari emphasised that there was no information about any injuries as a result of the attack. Hagari said, ‘This fire will have consequences. We have plans, we will act at the time and place we choose.’

US President Joe Biden said in Washington that the United States is ready to help Israel defend itself. In his post on the X platform, Biden stated that they discussed this issue with Vice President Kamala Harris and the White House national security team.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned Iran’s missile attack on Israel, describing the situation as ‘escalation upon escalation’ and emphasised the urgent need for a ceasefire.
The Israeli army said that citizens could leave shelters across the country after assessing the situation.
