A coalition of governments, NGOs, and private sector partners launched a new global initiative aimed at reducing learning inequalities and achieving SDG 4 (Quality Education). The program focuses on improving access to quality early childhood, primary, and secondary education in marginalized and conflict-affected regions.
Key strategies include teacher training, digital learning platforms, infrastructure development, and inclusive curricula that address gender and disability barriers. The initiative also prioritizes support for refugee and displaced children, who face disproportionate educational disruptions.
According to UNESCO, over 250 million children worldwide still lack basic literacy and numeracy skills, with girls and vulnerable populations most affected. The initiative plans to mobilize $5 billion over five years to tackle these gaps.
Experts stress that education remains a cornerstone for sustainable development and social cohesion. “Equal education opportunities unlock potential and transform societies,” said an education policy expert involved in the effort.
